The Conference Theme:
We will take a fresh look at an enduring topic of concern: diversity in education. Scholars and practitioners are invited to address the continuous need for increasing diversity in how education is viewed, theorized, studied, and practiced. Particular emphasis is placed on the questions of whose voices are being heard and published in the scholarly discourse on education, who benefits from what our educational system has to offer, and who gets hurt. SEW is especially interested in issues involving ongoing or new forms of marginalization of girls and women. Finally, we wish to collect and exchange ideas -- whether grounded in fact or fiction, experience or vision-- about how to build and sustain communities of support that will enable us to diversify policy and practice in the field of education.
